Four Ways You Can Use GPS Tracking to Increase Productivity and Eliminate Payroll Issues

GPS

Global positioning systems (GPS) have quickly become the gold standard as a cost-effective way for businesses with vehicle fleets to reduce fuel and fleet costs.

With GPS installed, businesses know the exact location of their vehicles. This helps businesses save fuel through dispatching efficiencies and improved routing. Data gathered by many GPS systems – including driver speed and idle time – can further help businesses by improving safety and decreasing fuel costs.

However, some GPS fleet tracking solutions offer tools and data gathering features that help business owners improve driver productivity and increase payroll efficacy – both of which can ultimately reduce overtime hours and garner additional revenue.

In fact, a recent study by Aberdeen Group, a respected firm that studies the impact of technology on business, reported that businesses experience a 23 percent increase in the total number of jobs completed per day per technician with GPS installed on their vehicles. The study also found a 14.8 percent reduction in average time per job and a 9.9 percent decrease in overtime pay.

Here are four ways business owners can use GPS to help with productivity and payroll issues:

With GPS tracking, dispatchers know the exact location of every vehicle in a fleet. This helps them to direct the closest vehicle to any job site. Some GPS tracking solutions go a step further by providing a feature that automatically locates the vehicles nearest to any address.

Some of the features included on the topographical map are terrain contours, elevations and summits, paths and geographic points. With a compatible Garmin GPS, users can view 3D terrain shading with the Digital Elevation Model (DEM).

For those of us who are a bit more adventurous, Garmin has recently launched a GPS System Routing/ Travel Guide called “Attractions and Oddities.” Roadside America is for tourists who like to find obscure spots that are off the beaten path. At the present time the Travel Guide is only available for Garmin GPS devices, but the word on the street is that it will soon be available for Tom-Tom GPS systems.

Creative Ways Companies are Using Used Cell Phone Materials

Cell phone

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), less than 20 percent of cell phones are recycled each year. Unfortunately, because many consumers do not know where or how to recycle cell phones, most often end up in landfills. This is quite a waste, since cell phones are made from precious metals, copper and plastics-all of which used energy to extract and manufacture. By sending used cell phones to landfills, consumers are throwing away precious resources.

There are ways in which all brands of cell phones-from used AT&T cell phones and used Blackberry cell phones to used Sprint cell phones and used Verizon cell phones-can be recycled. And, if consumers choose to recycle their used cell phones, they will be reducing green house gas emissions and conserving natural resources.

One way in which people can get started is by participating in the National Cell Phone Recycling Week. This program is sponsored by the EPA and is actually a joint effort with many different service providers, cell phone manufacturers, and retailers of cell phone products. Held each year just before Earth Day, this week-long event includes in-store and online promotions, giveaways, and contests while also providing consumers easy ways in which they can recycle their used cell phones and accessories.

Car audio

There’s nothing better than getting a new car and taking it on that first drive. The windows are down, wind is blowing through your hair, and your music is playing as loud as it can go. Sure, factory installed car audio systems are generally okay, but that’s just it—they’re just okay, not amazing. For many drivers, music is the only thing that keeps their road rage at bay during rush hour. So it’s important that you have an audio system that is reliable and sounds the best it possibly can. If you’re interested in improving your car audio, here are a few essential things you’ll need to get to make your system the best it can be.

Car Audio Speaker

Speakers are really essential to getting your sound where it needs to be. It’s always a good idea to upgrade you car speaker. A good car speaker has a higher frequency response, which means that more music comes through them. They also have more power handling abilities, and will sharpen the highs and deepen the lows in the music. Higher Frequency response means that your car speaker is more protected, as having them under-powered can damage them.

There are two types of car speaker on the market today. There are Dual Cone car speaker and the Two-way car speaker. The Dual Cone has a small paper cone built into a larger cone. A two-way mounts a separate tweeter on the larger cone which creates better sounds quality and a higher frequency response.
