Any seasoned network marketer will be able to tell you that the most important task in order to succeed in your network marketing business is prospecting.  A lot of prospecting is required in order to build your network marketing business successfully.  This means a lot of time and effort needs to be put into approaching potential prospects who may or may not be interested in your home based business opportunity.  You will need to know your prospects to build the trust and pitch your offer.  Depending on what the prospect is looking for, you will need to pitch your offer according to their needs.  This can be in terms of product or business opportunity.

The setback about this method of prospecting is that it is time consuming.  There are only so many hours you can spend on prospecting.  Remember that with only 24 hours in a day, you will need to divide your time between prospecting, meeting and servicing your customers, and training your new downlines.  Time is spent not only on commuting from one place to another, you are also limited to your geographical location.  Plus you become indispensable as you have to do everything yourself.  The moment you take a vacation, especially when your organisation is still small, your organisation will start to suffer because you are not around to take care of all the details.

To avoid this problem you can use an automated prospecting system.  This will allow you to generate leads automatically.  Once you set up your automated prospecting system, you can generate additional leads automatically without requiring you to be hands on.  This can be done through the use of the internet via online marketing.  There are certain basic tools for you to get started.  Once that is set up, the system will run like clockwork.

You will need to generate traffic to your site which should list your business opportunity for your target market.  Once visitors arrive at your site, you will need to capture their information.  This is where you will need to follow up with your prospects via a good autoresponder.

Once you set up your autoresponder, you will be able to keep in touch with your prospects through various campaigns.  The autoresponder acts like an automated email where you can drip information to your prospects, send out newsletters and broadcast messages.  Here it is important for you to build rapport and create trust with your prospects.  Once you do this well, your prospects will be more receptive to any business opportunity that you might have to share.

You can use banner advertisements to drive traffic to your site.  Youtube is another tool you can use.  Podcast is yet another tool that is still quite new in the market.  Pay per click advertisements are quite effective in generating quick traffic to your site.  You can control your budget as well as the amount of traffic.

Most important is to have an effective lead capturing page.  You do not want to waste all the time and effort in driving traffic to your site just to lose them because it is not effective enough.  When that is set up well, you will have an automated prospecting system that works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
