Stephen King Audio Books!

Stephen King was born in 1947, in Portland, Maine. He is one of America’s most famous authors, having written over 200 stories, including over 50 best-selling horror and fantasy novels.

When King was a young boy, he apparently witnessed a horrible, gruesome accident – a

childhood friend of his was struck and killed by a train. King claims that he has no recollection of the incident, but his parents insist that it happened – and many commentators say that this event is the basis of King’s turn into writing horror.

King received a bacehlor’s degree in English from The University of Maine, where he also met Tabitha Spruce, the woman he would later marry. After college, King and his wife lived in a trailer, and he became a high-school teacher while writing short stories for men’s magazines to make ends meet.

King’s first big break was the publishing of his first novel, Carrie, about a young girl with psychic powers. While King was first writing the story, he became discouraged and threw all of it in the trash. His wife removed the writings from the garbage and convinced King to send it to a publisher. He did just that, received a $2,500 advance for his work, and his fabulous writing career was well on its way.

There are numerous accessories that are available for your car stereo. Some of them are key such as RCA cables and others are elective like wiring harnesses.

RCA Cables:
These are the cables required used to transfer pre-amp (line level) signals. Usually, you use this kind of cable for unamplified signals such as the connection between your head unit and amp or crossovers/eqs. Look for appropriate thickness and shielding. The end connectors should be strong enough to prevent breakage from stress. There is a notion that more expensive the cable, better the sound quality. However do not spend more than $1/foot. You may have to spend more to get cables immune to noise if that is a problem in your car.

Speaker Cables:
When the line level signal from the head unit is amplified it becomes much stronger and requires thicker cable to carry it. This is even more pronounced for subwoofer wiring. Use something between 9 gauge and 1415 gauge wiring for subwoofers, nothing smaller. A lot of current has to flow through those wires. For tweeters and midranges thickness is less critical but still key to prevent leakage and contamination from outside sources.

Power Distribution Blocks:
Power distribution blocks make wiring easier. You can run one thick power cable from the battery to the distribution block and from there you can use its multiple outputs for each component. Audio Branding – Can It Really Be Achieved?

Distinctive product design, colours and logos have been used to help brand recognition for a long time. Now some companies are trying to appeal to our hearing as a stimulator and brand identifier. How are they succeeding?

Audiovisual media, particularly films and TV series, are an enormously important vehicle for manufacturers to gain widespread brand recognition.

Visual branding predominates

Visible brand cues abound. We all know how car makers are competing to place their products in films, how film heroes glance at their watches with the manufacturer’s logo clearly visible, how drinks are served from bottles with the labels in plain sight.

Yet, some studies suggest that sound is between 75 and 90% more important than pictures or words. Because sound links directly to both the rational and emotional sides of our brain, many high-visibility brands have tried to capitalise on this finding. So far, their success has been varying.

Audio branding must combine technology and marketing

Product-related sound effects, jingles and audio signatures have been around for a while, but being an attempt to artificially connect a certain sound with the brand, they do not represent a genuine brand sound. That is why I’m leaving them outside of the scope of this article.

Planning a Car Audio System Installation

With such a wide range of components and gadget on the market for car audio systems, the big question is “Where do I start?”

First you must decide what exactly you wish to do. If you are wanting to build a car audio system for a daily driver (the car you drive back and forth to work) with good sounds, but you are not interested in competing, a system can easily be put together for under $1000. However, if you are looking for the all-out bass monster, be prepared to drop in some big bucks into your system.

One of the most important things to keep in mind when building a car audio system is planning. Get an idea of where you are going to place components, subwoofers, amplifiers, and power distribution. A lot of headache can be avoided with the proper planning!!

For the basic system, lets look at some of the components needed.

Let’s first start with the head unit (CD player). Obviously you are going to want a nice head unit. If you start with a good quality cd player, and choose to upgrade your sound system in the future, purchase a head unit that will grow with you.
